Obituary

William J. McAllister, 73, of Sinking Spring, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Reading Hospital. He was the husband of Christie A. (Bolton) McAllister, with whom he would have celebrated 50 years of marriage on August 7. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late William A. and Ruth M. (Kahmar) McAllister. He graduated from Northeast Catholic High School and continued his education at Villanova University, where he graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Mathematics in 1974. After graduating college, Bill started working for UGI and worked there for 45 years until his retirement in 2019. He always spoke highly of his work colleagues and was involved in many UGI volunteer programs. He was a long time member of Ascension of Our Lord Church in Philadelphia.

In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his sons, Ryan McAllister, husband of Kristina, and Ross McAllister, husband of Brandy, and his grandchildren Lainey, Zachary, Lucas, Brooke, and Logan. He is also survived by his brother Robert J. McAllister, his sister-in-law Jean M. Novak, his brother-in-law Chris Novak, his mother-in-law Anna J. Bolton, and his nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Ruth Ann, his sister-in-law Maryann, and his father-in-law Dale C Bolton.

Bill certainly enjoyed sports throughout his life. He still spoke of his younger days playing baseball and basketball for the Kensington Ramblers. Later in life he continued his love for sports as a coach. "Coach Bill" loved passing down his sport's knowledge to the younger generation and coached both his sons' soccer, baseball, and basketball teams. Bill also enjoyed playing pickup basketball at the Wyomissing Hills playground with his HHI crew. Once the grandchildren came, you could always catch him on the sideline cheering on Lainey, Zac, Lucas, Brooke, or Logan. And through the entirety of his life, his love for Philly sports never left him.

No services are scheduled at this time. The family will celebrate Bill's life privately. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Baseballtown Charities Dream League through a fundraiser in honor of Bill at https://gofund.me/0f3035b11 . Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with arrangements.
