Susan L. (Painter) Henry

Susan L. (Painter) Henry, 71, of Birdsboro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at Reading Hospital while surrounded by family. She was the devoted wife of Michael C. Henry, with whom she shared 40 wonderful years of marriage.

Born in Reading, PA, Susan was the daughter of the late Harvey Painter and Daisy (Craze) Painter. She was a graduate of Exeter High School and went on to work at Western Electric before serving as church secretary at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Birdsboro.

Susan, a member of Robeson Evangelical Lutheran Church in Plowville, lived her life with kindness and generosity. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading, biking, and spending time at the beaches of Cape Hatteras, NC.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Lori DeTemple, wife of Gregory; Steven Henry, husband of Karin; and David Henry. She was a proud grandmother to Morgan, Gabriella, Aaron, Nathan, Lincoln, and Anderson, and is also survived by her brother, Gary Painter.

Susan's love for life was only surpassed by the love she had for her family. She had a heart of gold and was always willing to help others, putting their needs before her own.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Robeson Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3520 Plow Rd., Mohnton, PA 19540.
