Terry Stockton

July 21, 1942 — July 3, 2021

Terry Dayle (Brigham) Stockton, 78, of Exeter Township, passed on Saturday, July 3rd, 2021, after an extended illness. Terry was born in Burlington, VT on July 21st, 1942. Her parents, Chandler Blake Brigham and Elene (Stokes) Sartell raised she and her (3) sisters on a farm in Berlin, VT. Even though Terry lived in Pennsylvania for over 50 years, she was always a “Vermonter” at heart.

Terry attended Johnson State College earning a bachelor’s degree in Education. She was a dedicated elementary school teacher for many years.

Terry’s Christian faith guided her adult life. As an active member of several Episcopal churches, she graduated from EFM, participated in the Cursillo Movement, and helped facilitate the ALPHA program. She served as a vestry person and a chalice bearer. Most recently a member of St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, Douglassville, she served on the vestry and in other leadership and spiritual roles.

Terry’s involvement in church life connected her to John Stockton, and in 1985 they married, combining two families into one. John and Terry shared a rare love and partnership that lasted over 25 years, until John’s passing in 2010.

Terry enjoyed spending time with and entertaining her family at her home, especially at Christmas. She provided a loving place for her children and grandchildren to visit. She always assured her special needs stepson, Blair, a happy and gift filled holiday.

She loved her community and forged many lifelong friendships. Her friends and family will miss her kindness, her willingness to listen and her no nonsense advice.

She nursed both her late husband, John and her mother, Elene with love, gentleness, and unwavering kindness through illnesses to the end of their lives.

Terry is survived by her children; Diana-Jean (Dodson) Jones, wife of Neil (VT), John L. Dodson husband of Patricia Gore, Birdsboro, Blair Stockton, Will Stockton, and Kate Stockton. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Erin, Kyle, Lucas, Nolan, Max, Ben, Sid, Sarah, Melissa, Emily, Madeline, and Andrew as well as great-grandchildren Leo, Jude, and Noa. She is additionally survived by her dear sisters, Cathy Brimblecomb and Julie Clemons. Terry is predeceased by her sister Channa Brigham and stepson Clay Stockton.
