Fern M. Shoustal (Snyder)

Fern M. Shoustal, 94, formerly of Lincoln Road, Exeter Township, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 in Berkshire Center. She was the widow of Elwood H. Shoustal who passed away January 4, 1999. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late William A. and Carrie (Heck) Snyder. Fern was a graduate of Reading High School and was a member of St. Thomas U.C.C.-Reading. Fern co-owned and operated a Delicatessan stand in the former Market Houses at Schuylkill Ave. and Buttonwood St., in Baumstown and the former Reading Market House at 6th and Bingaman Sts. for 45 years until retiring in 1985. She was also a former tax assessor for the County of Berks. Fern is survived by: One Son: Jack L. Shoustal husband of Gayle of Exeter Township; Three Granddaughters: Jaclyn wife of Kyle Davis of Highlands, NJ, Elizabeth A. “Betsy” Shoustal of Philadelphia and Reb ecca L. “Becky” Shoustal of Alexandria, VA. She was pre-deceased by her brother Arthur Snyder. Memorial Services will be held in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mt. Penn on Monday, August 19th, 2013 at 10:30 am.
