Obituary

Sheryl L. (Kvasnica) Heim, 73, of Shillington, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2026 in the Reading Hospital. She was the wife of Michael A. Heim.

Born in Flint, Michigan, she was the daughter of the late Stephen Andrew and Dorothy Ruth Kvasnica. Family members also included a brother, Ronald Allen Kvasnica, of Flint, and an aunt, Dottie Kvasnica Moreland, of Manhattan, Kansas. In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Danny Danko, and his wife, Lisa Guida, of Basalt Colorado.

In October 2001, Sheryl was joyfully reunited with her son, Danny Danko. Danny had begun searching for his mother through Catholic Social Services in Flint, Michigan, where he was born. Before long, his search led him to Sheryl, and their reunion marked the beginning of a beautiful bond. From the very start, they were not only mother and son but also the best of friends, sharing 25 wonderful years together filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories.

Sheryl proudly served her country in Flight Operations with the United States Airforce. She was stationed at Dover Airforce Base, where she met her husband, Mike, in 1971. They were married for 56 years.

Sheryl had a lifelong goal of caring for people and had wanted to be in the medical profession since she was six years old. She began her dream by graduating at the top of her class from the Reading Area Community College's first AD/Registered Nursing program in 1977. She continued her career as a cardiac and critical care nurse at Reading-area hospitals for 34 years until retirement.

She was a talented seamstress as well as a pianist and organist and was a member of the Reading Senior Symphony orchestra. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe.

Sheryl loved nature and animals and she and Mike took joy in raising their many pups. She will be remembered most for her kindhearted and caring nature.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Monday, October 12, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606.
