Obituary

Scott Arther Wittich, 64, passed away suddenly, but peacefully on September 29, 2026. He was born on November 12, 1961 in the Reading Hospital. "Mitt" was a friend to all and generous with what he had. Proud of his Alma Mater, Mt. Penn High School, he coached basketball at several levels over 30 years, including coaching his nephew, Ben. He continued attending the high school basketball games every year. He was a music lover with quite a collection of CDs. Friends recall he made the best burgers, the "Mitt Burger". Summers were spent at the Antietam Pool on the "Steps", playing in the Exeter Softball League and at the "Rec Center" playing basketball where his set shot was famous. He had many friends but loved being with his core group getting together for card night, three on three basketball on Penndale Ave, Christmas Parties, Birthday Dinners and many more wonderful memories. His get togethers were legendary. He loved going to the Greek Bazaar in the fall. He was a big baseball fan, and among his pastimes were going to Reading Phillies games and following his grand-nephew Brayden and niece Tori's sporting events. You could also find him with his friends at local establishments including: Bixler's, Maxie's and Berties.

Scott is survived by his siblings; Frederick S. Wittich Jr., husband of Barbara, Kim A. Wittich, and Carlyn Kish, wife of Robert. He is also survived by his nephews; Ben, Casey, and Jordan, nieces; Elizabeth, Paige, and Victoria, as well as his great-nephews, Brayden and Cooper, and great-niece Audrey.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, October 14, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606.
