Stephanie Schmoyer (Rosa)

Stephanie (Rosa) Schmoyer, 71, of Exeter Township, passed away on Sunday, July 18, 2021, in her residence. She was the loving wife of James Schmoyer, with whom she celebrated 50 years of marriage. Born in Syracuse, New York, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Jr. and Clara (Ramsden) Rosa. Stephanie attended Montrose Area High School, graduating in 1967. She went to college at The Penn State University, where she made lifelong friends through Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and met the love of her life before graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts. Stephanie taught English at Southern Lehigh High School and then earned a Master’s Degree in counseling from Lehigh University. She was a guidance counselor at Springfield Twp High School, Antietam Jr/Sr High School, and Exeter Twp High School where she also coached the women's tennis doubles team to the state finals. She was an original board member of the Downtown Improvement District in Reading and also served on the Exeter Twp School Board. Stephanie was a member of PEO women's organization, and loved playing tennis and pickleball. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, bridge groups, and the monthly gatherings of her book club friends. She felt a great sense of purpose in her happy place: spending time with her grandsons in Wyoming.

In addition to her husband, Stephanie is survived by her children: Katie R. Medill, wife of Cory, Wyoming, and J. Zachary, partner of Bijal Desai, South Carolina. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Kellen J, and Micah Medill, as well as her siblings: Mary Ellen (Larry) Goldfard, Linda (Charles) Gush, Cathy (Nic) Klimaszewski, Pamela (Alvin) Tilley, and Ralph Rosa III (Amy).

Services were held privately for the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Stephanie's name to Safe Berks, 255 Chestnut St.
