Emil “Buddy” Schanzenbach, Jr., 57, of Exeter Township, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2013 in his residence. He was the husband of Robin J. Gray Schanzenbach, Esq. Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Emil Schanzenbach and Joan (DuBois) Schanzenbach of Exeter Township. Emil was a graduate of Exeter High School in 1974 and attended RACC. He was a member of St. Catharine of Siena R.C.C., a member of the Berks County Parrothead Club and the Six Point Hunting Club in Clinton County. He enjoyed boating on the Sassafras Creek in the Chesapeake Bay aboard the “Skipper”. He was also a member of the Duffy Creek Yacht Club. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed trips to the Caribbean. Emil was also a car collector and cherished his Model A, Model T and a 1971 421 Cobra Jet Mustang. He was a member of the AACA, the Model-T Club and the Model-A Club. Emil was a freelance photographer for Roger Penske Racing and Penske Truck Leasing. At one time he was the track photographer for Michigan, Rockingham and Nazareth Speedways. His photography was also featured in Stock Car Magazine as well as a photographer for the Reading Fairgrounds in their earlier years. In addition to his wife and mother, Emil is survived by: One Sister: Sherril J. wife of Michael E. Bickle of St. Lawrence; One Nephew: Erich Odenweller and One Niece: Sarah Odenweller; his pet cat Tommy and two cockatiels: Freddie and Iggy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Catharine of Siena Chapel 2427 Perkiomen Ave. Mt. Penn on Friday at 11:30 am. Friends may call from 10:30-11:30 am at church. Interment in Forest Hills Memorial Park. In Lieu of Flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society 498 E. Bellevue Ave. Reading, PA 19605.
