Ryan Anthony Fox, born on April 1, 1996, went home to be with Jesus on April 12, 2026, shortly after his 30th birthday.
Ryan lived life to the fullest, enjoying every minute of every day. He never allowed the physical limitations of Muscular Dystrophy to get him down.
Ryan spent countless hours organizing the Marcus Fox family, Fairview Mennonite Church, and Fairview Christian School. He especially loved running the sound booth at Fairview Church and being the scoreboard operator for many games at Fairview Christian School.
The joy of Ryan's life was spending time with his 2 nieces, Ayla and Eden. Giving them rides on his power chair was a favorite. He was also looking forward to learning to know his newborn nephew, Jaxon Gehman.
Ryan was such a wonderful family member to his parents and siblings. He spent many hours a day at his desk figuring out ways to make our lives better by being more organized.
First and foremost, Ryan was a follower of Jesus Christ and a man of God. Since he was a little boy, Ryan enjoyed adult conversations. He loved talking about theology, politics, sports, or whatever else was on the adults' minds.
Ryan also loved Adventures in Odyssey. His complete collection of their albums can be found neatly organized in his room.
Ryan's final day on this earth was one that we know he thoroughly enjoyed. His death was unexpected and caused by heart failure. He spent the morning at church helping run technology for the Fairview Christian School program. After an afternoon of rest, he sang hymns for the elderly and spent time with his parents driving around the Pagoda mountain. Ryan loved to drive around and look at the scenery. Little did we know that soon after we arrived home he would go to be with Jesus.
Ryan enjoyed traveling in many capacities. Whether it was a day trip through Berks County, a four day train ride to San Francisco, or a Southern excursion to a Gospel concert, he always loved to go. He carefully documented each place we went to each year.
Ryan is survived by his parents, Marcus and Vonda Petersheim Fox; three sisters, Tiffany, married to Caleb Gehman, Sheri, married to Alex Burkholder, and Shaina Fox. He is also survived by a brother, Tyler Fox, married to Katrina King Fox. His paternal grandparents, Jay and Norma Fox, and maternal grandparents, Willis and Lydia Petersheim, also survive him. In addition, he is survived by his nieces, Ayla Gehman and Eden Fox, and his nephew, Jaxon Gehman. Countless cousins, aunts and uncles, and friends mourn his passing.
As a lifelong sufferer of Muscular Dystrophy, Ryan was cared for by many people. A special thank you goes out to his dear mother, Vonda, who cared for him tirelessly, day and night, his brother, Tyler, who helped him get in and out of bed thousands of times the last 10 plus years, and his father, Marcus, who faithfully took him on many outings so he could enjoy life in spite of his handicap.
Ryan's death leaves a gaping hole in all the spaces he occupied. His big smile and engaging personality were a constant part of his life wherever he was. Life around Fairview will never quite be the same.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 19, from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 at Martindale Mennonite Church, locarted at 171 Hurst Road Ephrata, PA. The funeral will be at the same location at 10:30 Monday morning, April 20. A viewing will precede the funeral beginning at 9:30. The burial will take place at Schwarzwald Cemetery 75 Church Lane, Reading, PA, 19606 following the funeral.
Donations may be made in Ryans honor to Fairview Christian School, or to Fairview Mennonite Church to help cover funeral expenses. Any excess funeral expenses will be donated to the School.
Ryan, you will be greatly missed. We have everything covered. Enjoy your time with Jesus. No more suffering and pain is now your reality. We are so happy for you!
