Richard B. "Dick" Oswald, 88, of Exeter Township, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2023 in the Reading Hospital. Richard was born in Reading on October 3, 1934 to Thelma & Howard Oswald. The family lived in Baumstown before moving to Fleetwood where he graduated in 1952. He then attended McCann Business School. Dick served his country in The United States Army at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama.
After returning to Berks County, he was employed by the 1st National Bank of Fleetwood and later owned and operated "Dick Oswald Sport Shop." But soccer was the top of Dick's list. He was a dedicated PIAA and FIFA referee for Berks County schools and colleges. Dick blew his whistle for 54 years!! After retiring he enjoyed working at the Berks County Courthouse as a tip staff. He was an active member of Lower Alsace Fire Company.
Richard is survived by his wife of 66 years Shirley, and their daughter Rebecca. Also his grandchildren, Pieter, spouse of Nicole, Rachel, spouse of Hermes, Kady, spouse of Jeremy, and Andrew, spouse of Marybeth.
