Mary (Ciszek) Hopko

Mary (Ciszek) Hopko, 81, of Wernersville, passed away on Thursday, October 9, 2025. She was the wife of John Hopko, of Wernersville. Born in Shenandoah, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna (Yanchoris) Ciszek. Mary graduated from Shenandoah High School. She worked as a cleaning lady for many years. Mary was a member of St. Francis de Sales Church. Mary loved to cook, bake, and read cookbooks. The holidays were extra special to her, especially Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas Day lunch. She had many fond memories of being in charge of the kitchen for the Church Christmas bizarre, Church Festivals, and making pierogies during the Lenten season. Mary was well loved by many and always provided a listening ear particularly to those in their time of need.

In addition to her husband, John, Mary is survived by her children; John Hopko, husband of Laura, Joanna Sockel, wife of Jay, and Lisa Shade. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jacob, Lucas, Sierra, and Leia, as well as her brother John "Jackie" Ciszek, her Godson Peter, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary was preceded in death by her sister Tina.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, beginning at 11:00 am at Gethsemane Chapel of St George, 3139 Kutztown Road, Reading, PA 19605. Interment will follow.
