Mark L., Bauer, 79, of Mt. Penn, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. He was the husband of the late Janice G. (Getchell). Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late Mark L. and Catherine (Syfert) Bauer.

Mark graduated from Reading High School. He went on to attend Penn State University where Mark met the love of his life, Janice. They spent 54 wonderful years of marriage together. While attending Penn State, he received his bachelors degree in Education and played football for PSU. He then received his bachelors degree in nursing from RACC. Mark worked as a Registered Nurse retiring from the Coatsville VA after 22 years.

Mark was a member of Schwarzwald UCC. He was a person who put family before himself. Growing, supporting, and leading by example each season of his life. He was the definition of care giver. He enjoyed supporting his children and grandchildren at all stages of their lives, seeing them grow, succeed, and learn along the way.

Mark is survived by his children; Elissa (Bauer) Arzuaga and Ericka Bauer; his grandchildren Jazmine Arzuaga and Ethan Arzuaga, as well as multiple nieces, nephews and extended family.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. Interment will follow at Laureldale Cemetery, 4631 Pottsville Pike, Reading, PA 19605. In lieu of flowers. contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., has been entrusted with arrangements.
