Martha Hess Mantis, 94, formerly of Reading, passed away October 7, 2013 in Santa Rosa, CA. She was the wife of the late Theodore M. Mantis (former co-owner of the Crystal Restaurant).
Born in Reading to the late Emil and Rose Hess,she graduatedWyomissing HS, and was a member of BausmanMemorial UCC, andSt. John’s UCC.
She will be remembered with sweetness for herintegrity, love of nature, and her devotion to those less fortunate.
She is survived by her daughters: Ann Smith of San Antonio, TX, Thea(Steve) Doty of Graton, CA, and Connie Mantis (Peter Zukoski) of Winnabow, NC; and by grandchildren:John Hoff, SashaIvanoff and Ian Doty. She was predeceased bybrother Arthur Hess, and sister Betty Herron.
