Magdalene Babiarz (neé Grudza), 91, of Douglassville, PA passed away on August 20th, 2026, at Berks Heim Nursing Home.

Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Catherine (neé Karabin) Grudza. She was the widow of her first husband, Dr. Thomas J. Swierczewski, and her second husband, Arthur T. Babiarz.

Magdalene held numerous jobs throughout her life, her favorite one being as a people greeter for Walmart. She also enjoyed reading the newspaper, listening to polka music, watching Philadelphia sports teams, spending time with her family, and attending church at Immaculate Conception, Douglassville. Magdalene will be remembered most for her fearlessness, her good conversation, and her willingness to always say what's on her mind.

She is survived by her children, Kathleen A. Bush; Mary Louise Cox, wife of David; Kristin C. Eck, wife of Jeffrey; and Thomas M. Swierczweski. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jeffrey Bush, Jr., Taylor Bush, Julia Eck, and Harrison Eck, as well as her sister, Sophie Magrowski. Magdalene was preceded in death by her siblings, John Paul Grudza, Mary Grudza, and Anna Tylka.

Funeral services with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Immaculate Conception, 905 Chestnut Street, Douglassville, PA 19518. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial beginning at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately.
