Kathleen Odenweller

September 18, 1952 — November 26, 2023

Kathleen A. Odenweller, 71, of Middlebury Center, passed away November 26, 2023 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born September 18, 1952, in Lake Placid, NY to Richard L. and Elizabeth (Norton) Odenweller. Kathy lived and worked in Reading, PA, for over 40 years, was an accomplished equestrian, enjoyed gardening, photography, and drawing, and being involved with SCCA racing. She met her husband Phil through stage rally events, and they relocated to the Wellsboro area in part due to involvement with the Susquehannock Trail rally, in which they both were active. After retiring from her career with ATT/Lucent, Kathy achieved a long-time goal and became a Master Gardener through PSU, and specialized in landscape design. Locally, her work can be seen at the Tioga County Courthouse and the Wynken Blynken and Nod fountain. She and Phil loved to travel, domestically and internationally, both for racing and pleasure. She was able to live actively, even while battling cancer for more than 18 years.

Kathy is survived by her parents: Richard and Elizabeth Odenweller of Reading; her husband Philip Barnes of Middlebury Center; two brothers: Richard (Karen) Odenweller of Reading, and Kevin (Brenda) Odenweller of Colorado Springs, CO; and two sisters: Michele Wingerter of Highlands, NJ, and Rhonda (Pete) Wawrziniak of Reading.
