John W. Kostzewa Jr.

John W. Kostzewa Jr., 93, of Temple, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2026. He was the husband of his dearly departed wife Lavina (Duggan) Kostzewa. Born in Reading, PA, he was the son of the late John W. Kostzewa Sr. and Cecilia (Jarozynski) Kostzewa. John graduated from Reading High School where he played basketball and baseball and his knickname was 'Ace' Kostzewa.

John is survived by his son Kevin J. Duggan, husband of Carole, of Delaware, two daughters, Kimberly A. Gettis, widow of Mark Sr., of Muhlenberg, and Christina A. Floto, wife of Edmond, of Oley Township. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Mark Jr., husband of Natalie, of Lancaster, Elizabeth A. Fick, wife of Andrew, of Spring Township, Andrea Jones, wife of Andy, of Maryland, Katie Duggan of Philadelphia, and John Duggan of California, and great-grandchildren Hazel, Lincoln and Margot.He is also survived by his sister Irene 'Renie' (Kostzewa) Diego and several nieces and nephews. 

Anyone who knew Johnny boy, as he was often called, knew that gardening and fishing were his passions. He especially liked to fish for crappie bass. He had a hobby of making colorful fishing lures and loved to share them. He enjoyed taking everyone fishing whenever he could. John worked at Agere, formerly Western Electric for many years. He ran Store 21 and was well-liked by all. John loved to write poems, some poignant, and some silly. He would sing little ditties to anyone who would listen. He was a happy guy! Affectionately known as 

'Pop' to the grandkids, he was a wonderful dad and grandfather. Anytime we parted, he would always tell us to drive careful and would always yell, Love you! We love you too Pop and we will miss you! 

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606.
