John Karahuta Jr., 100, of Wyomissing, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 in his home. He was the husband of the late Anna (Gombar) Karahuta. Born in Beaver Falls, PA, he was the son of the late John Karahuta Sr., and Anna (Desatnik) Karahuta. John graduated from Reading High School and Penn State Berks with his Associates Degree in Business Management. John worked in the clothing industry for over 50 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Cyril & Methodius R.C.C. as well as Slovak Catholic Sokols.
Having lived for 100 years John was witness to much history, but what he often recalled proudly was after surviving a bout of diphtheria at the age of six, he was a flag bearer the following year with the St. Cyril Boys Cadet Band, marching in FDR's first inaugural parade. Another highlight of his life was traveling to his ancestral home of Slovakia where he met with surviving aunts and cousins.
John is survived by his children; John S. Karahuta, husband of Gail H., Noreen A. Moser, wife of Dennis G., and Annette M. Karahuta. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Shawn, Kyle, Erin, and Evan, as well as his great-grandchildren; Matthew, Gwen, and Benjamin. John was preceded in death by his sister Martha.
