John "Jack" N. Creswell, 82, of Reading, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2026. Jack is survived by his devoted wife, Susan L. Staverosky Creswell; his daughter, Laura Creswell Kauffman and her husband, Mark, of Douglassville, and their daughter, Emma; his son, Gregory Scott Creswell and his wife, Christian, of Richmond, and their sons, Brooks and Colston; and his brother, Thomas Creswell and his wife, Susan, of Pottstown.
Jack was born on November 9, 1943, in Phoenix, Arizona while his father was stationed there with the Army Air Corp during WW2. Following the war his family returned to the Pottstown area where he grew up in Kenilworth and graduated from Owen J Roberts HS in 1961. Jack was the son of the late Ray Newman Creswell and Virginia Evelyn Freese Creswell. Jack lived a life defined by adventure, service, humor, and a deep love for his family and friends.
From an early age, Jack had a passion for aviation. He earned his pilot's license at just 16 years old, a remarkable accomplishment that launched a lifelong love of flying. He began his professional career as a pilot with Allegheny Airlines before becoming the owner of Rocket Car Wash in Pottstown. Even while building his business, Jack continued to enjoy flying private charter flights whenever he had the opportunity.
When he wasn't in the air, Jack could often be found on the golf course, enjoying the camaraderie, competition, and friendships the game brought. He also never lost his enthusiasm for what he affectionately called his "toys". Whether riding a motorcycle, spending time on the boat, or driving vintage automobiles, Jack embraced every opportunity for adventure and fun.
Jack found great fulfillment in mentoring young people. He coached the championship-winning Amity A's Little League baseball team, creating lasting memories for the players and families he encouraged on and off the field.
Among Jack's proudest accomplishments was his lifelong dedication to Optimist International. Through decades of service and leadership, he rose to serve as International President from 2011 to 2012, reflecting his unwavering commitment to helping young people and strengthening communities. Two of his greatest passions within the organization were the Optimist Oratorical Program, which he chaired at the district level for many years, and the Junior World Golf Program, now known as the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships (OIJGC), which he helped co-found.
Jack will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and the joke he always seemed to have ready. More than anything, he will be remembered for his generous heart, his willingness to lend a helping hand, and the genuine friendships he cultivated throughout his life.
A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, 5 W. Arch Street, Fleetwood. Family and friends are invited to a receiving line beginning at 10:00 a.m., with the Celebration of Life service to follow at 11:00 a.m. A reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Optimist International, or the Daniel Boone Optimist Club, P.O. Box 98, Douglassville, PA 19518, or to a charity of your choice in Jack's memory. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with arrangements.
