JoAnne M.(Ward) Sudock, 83 of Exeter Township, passed away on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Frank J. Sudock. Born in Reading, Pennsylvania she was the daughter of the late George and Bette Ward. JoAnne was a graduate of Reading High school being active in student government, cheerleading and Future Business Leaders of America.
In married life JoAnne was not only the cornerstone of her extended family but also a central member of the Women's Club of St. Lawrence, leader of the Reiffton Summer Tot-Lot for children, coach of the Exeter High School Cheerleading squad, an active member of the Exeter Association of Parents and Teachers and a patron of Genesius Theater.
A lifelong advocate for veterans, JoAnne's commitment to the wellbeing of our soldiers past and present began with the Vietnam War. Over the years JoAnne's contributions have included Care package drives, organizing soldier pen pals, initiating the installation of memorials and monuments, as well as lobbying state officials for funding for disabled veterans.
Mimi, as she became known was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many people. She is survived by her daughter Keli Gaffney of Hamden, CT, son Christopher (Laura) of Middletown CT, Son Matthew (Steven) of Brooklyn, NY. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Megan Borgnine (Brien) of Connecticut, Molly Gaffney of Reading, Christopher (Sarah) stationed in Washington State and Jessica Sansone (Matthew) of Virginia. Five great-grandchildren Quinn & Declan Sudock, Bryce & Crew Borgnine, Charlotte Sansone and twins on the way in September.
A celebration of the love and lives of JoAnne and Frank Sudock will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue Reading PA 19606.
