Joan E. (Hartline Frederick) Hill, 93, a resident of the Heritage of Green Hills, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026, at her home, with her loving family by her side. Joan was the wife of Arthur R. Hill for 18 years. Born in Mount Penn, she was the daughter of Nevin Hartline and Hazel (Fern). She was predeceased by her first husband Carl L. Frederick. She is survived by three children, Kurt C. Frederick, husband of Maria (Filippini), Lisa J. (Frederick) Krick, wife of Kenneth, both of Saint Marys, GA, and Kristen (Frederick) Lewis of Los Angelas, CA. She is also survived by her brother Robert Hartline, Exeter Township, and grandsons, Adam Frederick, husband of Alex Smythers and Ethan K. Frederick, husband of Hannah (Gehris) Frederick.
Joan was a 1950 graduate of Mount Penn High School where she played varsity basketball and volleyball. She went on to be a dental assistant. She later worked for the Designer's Outlet and 10 years at Margaret's Shoe Salon in Reading. She was a member of Trinity UCC her entire life, was a Sunday school teacher and member of the pastoral, offering, and candy making committees. She loved people, especially her family, friends, church family, and her ladies-care group. She enjoyed gardening, bird watching walks, and watching NBA games. She enjoyed playing tennis, bowling, and swimming at the Antietam pool. Every year she enjoyed vacationing at the beach in Ocean City or Stone Harbor, NJ.
Services will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, beginning at 11:00 am at Trinity UCC, 2449 Cumberland Ave., Reading, Pa 19606. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memorial Park, Reading, immediately following the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Joan's memory to the American Cancer Society at www.cancer.org. Online condolences may be made at www.lutzfuneralhome.com
