Jean P. Fromuth

Jean Patricia (Vogel) Fromuth, 95, of Wyomissing, passed away peacefully on March 24. She was born in Reading, PA. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Marie (Greene) Vogel. She was predeceased by her husband James C. Fromuth, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.

She was a graduate of Reading Central Catholic and later graduated from Fitzgerald Mercy School of Nursing. She met Jim Fromuth at a Central Catholic Alumni event. They married in 1953. She worked as a Registered Nurse for many years and together, they established Fromuth Fine Art Gallery in West Reading in 1955, which later became Fromuth Tennis. "Miss Jean" and Jim retired together, enabling them to enjoy lots of travel and spend more time with family and friends. She loved to host family gatherings. Jean was a devout member of St. Catherine of Siena and St. Ignatius Loyola.

Jean was an outstanding cook, baker and gardener. Her flowers from her garden were always a beautiful treasure she would share with friends and family. She was an admirer of nature and enjoyed sharing her enthusiasm and love with others, especially on walks. She lived an exceptionally active and healthy lifestyle.

Jean valued her wonderful friendships over the years. In her final years, she enjoyed her fitness and Alvernia classes, Wednesday hallway parties, and dinner with friends from her Highlands community. It was often challenging to catch her on the phone because she was participating in so many fun things with her friends. "Grandma Jean" always put her family first. She was a loving grandmother of her 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Some of her happiest times with her family included meals together, celebrating holidays, walks, and time at the shore. Grandma never missed a special occasion or an "unbirthday." Grandma will be deeply missed by all of her family and we hope to continue to make her proud.

She is survived by James J. Fromuth (Annette), AnnMarie Fromuth (Joe) Nawoczenski, Edward J. Fromuth (Barbara), Donald J. Fromuth (Cheryl), 8 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Jean was predeceased by her sister Mary V. Bangert and granddaughter, Kristin Nawoczenski Wassil.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated beginning at 11:00 am at St. Ignatius Loyola, 2600 St. Alban's Drive, West Lawn, PA 19609. Interment will be held privately.
