Obituary

Helen Nein, 104, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2026, at Complete Care at Berkshire. Born to the late John and Pearl (Angstadt) Mull, Helen was a graduate of Mt. Penn High School and lived a remarkably full century of life.

Helen was twice widowed, having shared her life with John Rudy until his passing in 1957, and later with Woodrow Nein until 1988. A devoted matriarch, she found her greatest joy in her family. She is survived by her two sons: John Rudy and his wife, Cecelia, of New Jersey; and Brian Rudy and his wife, Kathryn, of New York.

Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren-John T. Rudy, Christopher Rudy, Sheila Nowinski, Meghan Lavine, and Kristen Spinek-and their spouses, as well as her seven beloved great‑grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Carol Murphy, and her husband, Robert; her niece, Beth Weidel; her nephew, Troy Murphy; and several other cherished nieces and nephews.

Helen was a woman of faith and was an active member of Trinity UCC in Mt Penn. She was well known within the congregation for her spirit-and took pride in being a member of the candy making team. An adventurous soul, Helen loved to travel. Her journeys took her across Europe and South America, and she took great pride in having toured nearly every state in the country. Above all, Helen's favorite moments were the "happy hours" spent surrounded by her family during holidays and special occasions. Her warmth, her stories, and her enduring strength will be deeply missed.
