Richard C. Heins, 77, of Mount Penn, passed away Friday, December 6, 2013 in his residence. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dorothy A. (Myslinski) Heins.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Carl J. and Marie A. (Kraft) Heine. Richard was a 1953 graduate of Reading Central Catholic High School, and served in the U.S. Army. He was employed with the United States Postal Service; and prior to that, he was employed with Acme Markets. He was a member of St. Catharine of Siena Roman Catholic Church.
In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane M. and Barry L. Wentzel of Exeter Township; grandchildren, Julia M. Wentzel and Ryan M. Wentzel; brother, Robert J. Heins husband of Dolores of Muhlenberg Township; sister, Jane M. wife of David Speece of Bonita Springs, FL; and eight nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by a sister, Maryanne R. Heine.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Catharine of Siena Chapel, 2427 Perkiomen Avenue, Mount Penn, PA 19606. Family and friends are welcome to pay their respects one hour prior to the Mass. Interment will be in Gethsemane Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Parkinson’s Support Group of Berks County, c/o Ralph Blatt, 204 Columbia Avenue, Reading, PA 19605 or St. Catharine of Siena R.C.C. Memorial Fund at the above stated address. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., Mount Penn, is in charge of arrangements.
