Gloria LaRue Dewalt, 99, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at The Highlands at Wyomissing, Wyomissing, PA. Formerly of Oley, PA, she was the wife of the late Rev. Marvin E. Dewalt with whom she shared 71 years of marriage. Born in Shamokin, PA, to the late Blair A. and Mary H. (Korbich) Snyder, she was a 1944 graduate of Shamokin High School.
Gloria was an enthusiastic homemaker and mastered the art of Pennsylvania Dutch cooking. She raised four boys, supporting their varied academic, artistic, musical and athletic activities. Her commitment as a homemaker provided an invaluable foundation for her sons' educational and vocational pursuits. As a pastor's wife, she supported the mission of the church in a variety of ways, including being trained as a teacher of the Bethel Bible Series. She was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church.
Gloria is survived by three sons: Mark W. husband of Carolyn of Gastonia, NC, Timothy B. of Wyomissing, and Luke E. husband of Elizabeth of Ithaca, NY; eight grandchildren: Philip, Peter, Blair, Tate, Alexander, Leah, Samuel and Mary; and two great grandchildren: Poppy and Callie. She was predeceased by her brother William W. Snyder and her son Paul E.
The family would like to acknowledge The Highlands at Wyomissing Memory Support and Skilled Nursing Teams, as well as Aspire for Well-Being Hospice at the Highlands at Wyomissing for their gracious care of Gloria.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 13th at 11:00 AM at Atonement Lutheran Church, 5 Wyomissing Blvd., Wyomissing, PA 19610. A luncheon will immediately follow in Atonement's Lundin Hall. All are invited. The service may be viewed online at www.atonementwyo.org, click on "livestream" to join the service. Interment at Hill Church Cemetery, Boyertown, PA, will occur at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Highlands at Wyomissing Endowment Fund, Attn.: VP of Development & Marketing, 2000 Cambridge Ave., Wyomissing, PA 19610.
