Ethel C. (Hodgkins) Kurtz, 94, of Reading, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026 at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Edward J. Kurtz, Sr. Born in Reading, PA, she was the daughter of the late Karl and Helen (Wolf) Hodgkins. Ethel graduated from Reading High School, class of 1949. She worked at Berkshire Knitting Mills, Pomeroy's Department Store, David Crystal and Letisse. Ethel's Christian faith was everything to her, bringing her comfort and peace throughout her life. She attended Fairview Mennonite Church. Ethel enjoyed taking care of the house and children, ceramics, arts & crafts, sewing, and decorating her home.

Ethel is survived by her children; Barry S. Kurtz, husband of Nancy A., Edward J. Kurtz, Jr., husband of Jodi, and Deborah McCullough, widow of James. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Sean, Matthew, Carissa, Zachary, Weston, and Tanner, as well as her great-grandchildren; Abigail, Gabrielle, Cole and Cheyenne. 

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Monday, September 21, 2026 from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon with services beginning at 12:00 noon at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W. Neversink Road, Reading, PA 19606. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Fairview Mennonite Church, 1701 Fairview Street, Reading, PA 19606. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., has been entrusted with arrangements.
