Dorothy W. Rosser

Dorothy W. Rosser, 96, of Bern Township, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025 at Berks Heim Nursing Home. She was the widow of Ronald John Rosser, with whom she celebrated 48 years of marriage. Born in Scranton, PA, Dorothy was the daughter of the late James C. and Ida (Wingert) Wintersteen. She graduated from Elmer L. Meyers High School of Wilkes-Barre, PA in 1946. Dorothy went on to earn her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Wilkes College in 1950. Dorothy and Ronald were married in 1956 in Wilkes Barre, PA, by Rev. William Morgan Rosser. They made a home in several different cities including New York City and Honesdale, PA, before settling in Reading. After moving to Reading, Dorothy worked as a second grade teacher at Pennside Elementary School from 1962 until 1968. In 1979, she resumed her teaching career as a substitute teacher for Antietam School District until her retirement. After retirement, Dorothy volunteered as both a library aide and classroom teacher's aide at Mt. Penn Elementary School. She enjoyed helping the students with their library and reading skills there until the early 2000s. She was a longtime member of Holy Cross United Methodist Church, and was very involved with the United Methodist Women's Cluster and various Bible studies.

Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth A. Smith, wife of Brian C. Smith, as well as her grandchildren Christopher C. Smith, Charlotte M. Smith, and Connor M. Smith.

A graveside memorial service will be held at a future date and time at Odd Fellows Cemetery, Danville PA. Please check the funeral home's website for updates on service details.
