Dorace E. Harding, 97, left her earthly home at The Highlands of Wyomissing on July 1, 2025. Since July 2014, she was the widow of The Reverend Marvin L. Harding, with whom she shared 63 years of a blessed marriage. Born in Mohnton, the daughter of the late C. Clair and Nora Bickel Hornberger, she was a 1945 graduate of Mohnton High School and a 1949 graduate of Albright College. She taught in a high school in the state of Washington before returning to Pennsylvania, marrying and starting a family. Thereafter, the teaching was as a substitute in various local school districts. She devoted herself to homemaking, child-rearing, and working side by side with her husband during their Christian ministry - teaching in the Church School, in Daily Vacation Bible School, instructing adults to teach the Bethel Bible Series and holding offices in the churches' women's and musical organizations. As a community volunteer, she taught English to many foreign-speaking adults through the Reading-Berks Literacy Council and the Tressler Association.
Having been blessed with a distinctive, rich soprano voice, she soloed in the renowned Philadelphia Academy of Music and sang in the Bethlehem Bach Choir. For over 70 years, she was a soloist in various church choirs and other venues. Music always filled the hearts and homes of the Hardings!
Devoted to her loving family, in addition to her late husband, she is survived by daughter Constance, husband Glenn Uejio of HI; son Joel of VA; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren: Rebecca Uejio Schmidt, husband Ron and daughter Rachel of CA; Steven Uejio, wife Michelle and daughters Naomi and Mahalia of HI; Kirk Uejio, wife Ruth and son Kiyo of HI. Dorace was predeceased by her only sibling Lorraine, widow of Leon Lesher; by brothers-in-law Warren and Emerson Harding, with surviving sister-in-law Ruth Harding Arnoldin. Other survivors include many nieces and nephews, as well as devoted friend and in-law cousin Ardelle Nagle.
A memorial service will be held at The Highlands of Wyomissing. Internment will be at the Mohnsville Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
