Charles J. Delong

Charles J. DeLong, 80, of West Lawn, passed away Thursday, July 25th, 2013 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was the husband of Elizabeth M. (Derr) DeLong. He was the son of the late Pearl (Miller) DeLong. Charles was a graduate of Birdsboro High School and a United States Army veteran serving during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church-Reading serving as the past president of church council. He was also the past president of the West Lawn Recreation Board. Charles was the street supervisor of West Lawn Boro until his retirement. After his retirement he drove residents for Country Meadows. In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by: One Son: David Charles DeLong husband of Lisa of Shillington; One Granddaughter: Aimee wife of Nicholas Long of Exeter Township. Funeral Services will be held in St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 1559 Perkiomen Ave. Reading, PA 19606 on Wednesday July 31 at 11:00 am. Friends may call from 9:00 am to11:00 am. at church.
