Constance M. "Connie" (Ulmer) Whalen, 77, of Exeter Township, passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Berkshire Commons. She was the wife of the late Edward V. Whalen Jr. Born in Pottsville, PA, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Margaret (Thornburg) Ulmer. Connie graduated from Pottsville High School, class of 1967. She was a softlines manager at the former Bradlees Department Store in Pottstown and later Boscov's until her retirement. Connie was a member of Reformation Lutheran Church. She loved spending time in her garden, attending her grandchildren's events and baking them a chocolate cake on their birthday.

Connie is survived by her two daughters; Jennifer Nein, wife of Chris, of Robeson Township, and Pam Hoffman, wife of Sean, of Exeter Township. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Andrew, Eric, Emily, Luke, Parker, and Nate.

The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Berkshire Commons for the kindness, support and compassionate care shown to Connie during her battle with frontotemporal dementia. We also want to extend a thank you to Serenity Hospice who brought comfort to Connie and her family during the last few months of her life. The simple act of caring is heroic.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Ed Whalen Scholarship Fund, Exeter Township Alumni Association, 200 Elm Street, Reading, PA, 19606. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., has been entrusted with arrangements.
