Carol A. (Ritz) Shurilla

Carol A. (Ritz) Shurilla, 83, born to the late George and Eva (Sprout) Ritz of Reading, passed away in her home on Sunday, September 7, 2025 with her son, daughter-in-law and caregiver at her side.

Carol is preceded in death by her husband, John R. Shurilla Jr. and daughter Susan (Shurilla) Keller. She is survived by her Wittle Baby Boy Timothy B. Shurilla wife of Cheryl (Palmer) Shurilla. Carol is also survived by her grandchildren; Nicole (Shurilla) Smith, Kera (Shurilla) Armstrong, Zachary Palmer, Joshua Palmer, Travis Palmer, Samantha Palmer, as well as many adopted grandchildren including Jessica (Palmer) Silverstein her caregiver and 11 great-grandchildren.

Carol lived such a full life with her family including her brothers David (deceased) and Brian Ritz. She was known to tell stories of visiting her family farm. Carol loved to travel, swim with dolphins, and was always known to be a hard worker. She worked at Luden's for decades until the plant closed. Carol was also a thrill seeker, skydiving at 67 years old. She adored her animals, being in pajamas, and hearing or telling a good joke, especially the inappropriate kind. Carol tried not to take life too seriously as she got older but was also very stubborn.

Carol asked that anyone attending her services not to be sad and dress comfortably, pajamas encouraged. She wants to depart life with this final quote, "When I was alive I talked and talked and talked, now that I am dead you people can talk all you want, I promise I won't interrupt."

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, September 10, 2025 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am with services beginning at 11:00 am at Lutz Funeral Home Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606.
