Candace Faye Stitzman-Duley 79, of Muhlenberg Township, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Michael F. Duley, with whom she shared 23 years of marriage. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Franklin V. and Evelyn S. (Riegel) Stitzman. Candace graduated from Altoona High School, class of 1965. She worked as Chair of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party Women's Caucus. Candace was a member of Holy Spirit Lutheran Church.

In addition to her husband, Candace is survived by her children, Laura Morrison, Philip Parzanese II, Ryan Duley (Jennifer), and Michael P. Duley, six grandchildren, Aija Nafso (Damon), Malena Morrison, Noah Morrison, Adrienne Duley, and Vivienne Duley, and three great grandchildren, Stiles, Sterling, and Saila.

Candace is predeceased by her sister Sharon Shenk and grandson, Ché Morrison II.

Candace Stitzman-Duley dedicated more than 35 years of her life to advancing women's leadership in politics and public service. A tireless advocate, mentor, and champion for Democratic values, she inspired generations of women to become engaged in civic life and seek positions of leadership. She was a recipient of the 2015 Berks County Democratic Committee's Lifetime Achievement Award.

As Chair of the Pennsylvania Democratic Party Women's Caucus, Candace established the Catherine Baker Knoll Scholarship, creating opportunities for female college students pursuing careers in public service. Through this enduring legacy, she helped ensure that future generations of women would have the support and encouragement to lead.

Candace proudly served as a delegate for both Barack Obama and Joe Biden, reflecting her deep commitment to the Democratic Party and her belief in building a more just and inclusive nation.

Throughout her life, Candace was a steadfast advocate for women running for office, always encouraging others to step forward, raise their voices, and make a difference. Her passion, generosity, and unwavering dedication strengthened our party and left an indelible mark on Pennsylvania politics.

Candace's legacy lives on in the countless women she mentored, the leaders she inspired, and the opportunities she created. She will be remembered not only for her accomplishments, but for her kindness, determination, and enduring belief that when women lead, our communities are stronger.

She will be deeply missed, but her impact will continue to be felt for generations to come.

Visitation with family and friends will be held on Friday, July 31, 2026 from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a memorial service beginning at 2:00 pm at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Candace's memory to the Opportunity House online at Donate To Opportunity House ' Donate for Homeless or to 430 North 2nd Street, Reading, PA 19601.
