Arthur R. Hill, 93, of Cumru Township, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Reading Hospital with his family by his side. He was the devoted husband of the late Joan E. (Hartline) Hill. Born in Reading, PA, Art was the son of the late Arthur W. and Deborah S. (Rothermel) Hill. He graduated from Mt. Penn High School and continued his education at Albright College and then Temple University, where he earned his master's degree. Art proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, during which time he served in the Korean War. After his time in the military, Art worked at Bell Labs and many years as a professor at Penn State Berks. He was the First Chairman of the Penn State Berks Senate and would speak to community groups promoting the college. He mentored many students and retired in 2002. Art was a longtime member of Trinity United Church of Christ (UCC) in Mt. Penn and served on consistory. He was a fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles and enjoyed playing golf.
Art is survived by his children Kurt C. Frederick, husband of Maria, Lisa J. Krick, wife of Kenneth, and Kristen Frederick Lewis. He is also survived by two grandchildren Adam and Ethan, his great-grandchild Henry, as well as his sister Estelle C. Fehr, wife of Ralph, and his nephews Gary and Kevin Fehr, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his nephew Dr. Ralph Fehr III.
Visitation with family and friends will be held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, with a memorial service beginning at 11:00 am at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. Interment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W Neversink Road, Reading, PA 19606. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Trinity UCC 2449 Cumberland Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. has been entrusted with arrangements.
