Julia Irene Godfrey Angstadt

Julia Irene Godfrey Angstadt, 91, of Wyomissing, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2013.
Born on January 4, 1922 in Springfield (Delaware County), PA. she was the daughter of the late Albert and Laura (Osterlund) Godfrey. She graduated from West Phialdephia High School. and received a secretarial certificate from Temple University. Julia worked for Atlantic Refining in Phila. and later in Florida where she met her husband Russell Angstadt who she married March 2, 1957. They had three children-Anne Angstadt, Potomac, MD, Susan wife of Michael Milstein, Portland, OR and James Angstadt husband of Pamela of Reading; One Grandson Danny Milstein. Julia led a life filled with adventure. She held a private pilots license and enjoyed flying single engine planes. She worked for Ground Observer Corps, tracking and plotting aircraft. She also appeared on television with The Magic Suitcase production of the American Petroleum Institute. She was one of the founding members and was elected an elder of the Palm Springs Presbyterian Church in Hialeah, Florida. Julia a nd Russell were the first couple married there. They moved back to Pennsylvania in 1964 and settled in Wernersville where they raised their family. Julia was fully involved in family life including many years as a Cub Scout Den Mother, PTA bake sales and watching her children grow. She enjoyed family picnics and vacations. Julia and Russell enjoyed traveling and visited many destinations in later years including Mexico, Europe, Canada and the American Southwest. They rode many trains during their travels. Her grandson became the apple of her eye and she loved his visits and energy. A Memorial Service will be held in Trinity Lutheran Church 108 S. Robeson Street Robesonia, PA 19551 on Friday, November 22, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. Friends may call from 10-11:00 A.M. at church. Interment private at the convenience of the family.
