Stanley E. Boyer, 90, formerly of Mt. Penn, died Tuesday, March 14, 2017 in Elmcroft of Reading where he resided since 2011. He was the husband of Diane M. (Brookes) Boyer who passed away in 1990.

Born in St. Lawrence PA, on October 21, 1926, Stanley was a son of the late Floyd and Anna (Snyder) Boyer and stepson of Clara (Yetzer) Boyer. Stanley was a graduate of Mt. Penn High School and attended Ursinus College and Wyomissing Polytechnic Institute. He served in the United States Navy during World War II stationed in Banana River, FL. For many years Stanley traveled the world as a machinist and knitting superintendent. Over his career, he worked with knitting mills and resided in Massachusetts, New Jersey, North Carolina, Puerto Rico and throughout Europe and Asia. Locally, he had long tenures at Textile Machine Works, Talbott Knitting Mills and Gloray Knitting Mills. He was also a licensed realtor and expert handyman. Stanley enjoyed his pets, golfing, hunting, winemaking, Penn State football, and chaperoning cruise travel.

Stanley is survived by one son, Patrick A. Boyer, husband of Trish, of Great Falls, Virginia, and two daughters Pattianne Dupree and Linda L., widow of James T. Reedy, both of Reading. There are two grandchildren, Orion and CeeJay Dupree. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Harold E. Boyer, of Louisville, KY, and his former wife, Madelyn L. (Boyer) Epler.
