Marie Madeira

Marie L. Madeira, 85, of Reading, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in the Mifflin Center. She was the widow of Gordon H. Madeira who passed away March 10, 2010. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Alessandro and Angela E. (Biagi) Paris. Marie was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and was a 60 year member of St. Matthew's United Methodist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher and participated in the choir. She was a member of Berks Encore and enjoyed going with them to her art classes at the Goggleworks. She also enjoyed going to the Sokols with Sandy, Tony and friends. Marie was employed by Whitner's and then as a second assistant for Junior Colony at the Berkshire Mall and Springtowne Center until her retirement. She is survived by, one daughter, Sandra L. Madeira and her significant other, Anthony B. Bocian of Reading; three brothers, John J. Paris companion of Mary Calcagno of Reading, Gene H. Paris husband of Pat of West Lawn and Gerald Paris husband of Marie of FL; two sisters, Matilda Wright and Joanne widow of Charles Peppers both of Reading; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews and her loving companions, "Jerry Garcia and Delilah". She was pre-deceased by her brother, Albert R. Paris. The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 9:00-10:00 am with services beginning at 10:00 am in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Avenue Reading, PA 19606.
