George J. Gardner

August 18, 1932 — June 16, 2016

George J. Gardner, 83, of Exeter Township, passed peacefully on,Thursday, June 16, 2016 in Reading Hospital and Medical Center. He was the husband of Barbara (Gannon) Gardner . Born in Scranton, he was a son of the late George and Esther (Storr) Gardner. George was a graduate of Scranton High School in 1952 and was a United States Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. George was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, South End Gun Club, Reading Liederkrantz, a board member of the Crestwood Pool and past president of University Gun Club. He especially loved spending time with his family as well as hunting, fishing in Canada and trap shooting. George was a communication technician for AT&T for 33 years until his retirement. In addition to his wife, George is survived by, one son, Paul J. Gardner husband of Sherry of Stonersville and Mary Beth Gardner of St. Lawrence; five grandchildren, Paul Michael, Patrick, Jessica, Alyssa and Laura and one nephew, Scott Shuler. He was pre-deceased by his sister, Elizabeth Shuler. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 7:00 pm 9:00 pm. in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Reading, PA 19606. Services and Interment private.
