Joan B. Swavely, 80, of Reading, passed away Saturday, June 4, 2016 in the Mifflin Center. She was the widow of Ronald W. Swavely who passed away September 28, 2009. Born in Reading, she was a daughter of the late Paul I. and Ethel M. (Ruth) Rissmiller. Joan was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church-Reading. Joan was a 1953 graduate of Reading High School. She enjoyed playing bingo and attending Barry Manilow concerts and socializing with her friends at B'nai B'rith. Most gratifying to her was spending time with family. She is survived by: five sons, Russell P. husband of Debbie, Jeffrey W. husband of Patricia, Michael J. husband of Vickie, Christopher M. and James S. husband of Barbara; three daughters, Robin S. wife of John W. Daub, Karen J. Sites and Marsha A. Cammarano; fifteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, Bruce and Glenn Rissmiller. The family will greet friends and relatives on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 8:30-9:30 a.m. with services beginning at 9:30 a.m. in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. 2100 Perkiomen Ave. Mt. Penn. Interment in Laureldale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mifflin Center, 500 E. Philadelphia Ave., Shillington, PA 19607.
