John Z. Lucash

John Z. Lucash, 93, formerly of Stony Creek Mills, passed away,Saturday, March 26th, 2016 in Above and Beyond Assisted Living-Allentown. He was the widower of Mary S. (Hammas) Lucash. Born in Audenried, PA, he was a son of the late John L and Alexandria (Clay) Lucash. John was a United States Army veteran of World War II serving in the 82nd Airborne and the 509th Paratroop Battalion. He enjoyed fishing and going to the military unions with his wife. John loved to watch and listen to the Philadelphia Phillies and in his later years loved to go to the Antietam Pool. John was a furniture refinisher at Harold's Furniture in Reading for 32 years. He is survived by: One Son: John Z. Lucash, Jr. husband of Gloria of Bethlehem; One Daughter: Annette L. Manwiller life partner of Bruce Leinbach of Oley; One Granddaughter: Melissa Lucash wife of John McNabb and Two Great-Granddaughters: Celia and Anna. The family will receive friends on Thursday Evening, March 31st from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Lutz Funeral Home, Inc. Mt. Penn with services being held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township. Contributions may be made to Bethany Evangelical Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1375 Friedensburg Road, Reading, PA 19606.
